our mission
The Dutch chapter of the STC has the objective to support technical communicators in the Netherlands. STC Netherlands is founded as a regional organization within the worldwide STC, which counts almost 25,000 professionals as its members. The next paragraph is a section of the welcome page on the STC website:
"STC is a professional association that advances the arts and sciences of technical communication. Its 25,000 members include technical writers, editors, graphic designers, multimedia artists, Web and Intranet page information designers, translators and others whose work involves making technical information understandable and available to those who need it."
"STC membership provides opportunities for ongoing learning and professional networking. STC promotes the public welfare by educating members and industry about issues concerning technical communication. "
STC works through more than 150 regional chapters, which persue their own regional goals in order to meet the overall objectives of the Society. Membership of STC is organized through the parent organization, but most of the members are associated with regional chapters. The Dutch STC members were associated to the Belgian chapter until last year, but have formed their own chapter now. This enables us to operate in ways that are optimal for the Dutch market of technical communication. Thereby we can optimize the support we can give to technical communicators that work in or from the Netherlands.
